Trip: 4th June 2009 – 7th June 2009
1. At the screening area before boarding the police told me that is a Swiss knife in my backpack and order me to check in the bag if not they will confiscate it. Geezz I’ve forgotten about the Swiss knife which I always carry it with me together with Naomi’s baby stuff.
At that time was 6.15am and our flight is at 6.50am. Hubby and the rest of our group of traveller was shocked about this incident. In my life of travelling experiences I never stopped by a police and definately never bring the Swiss knife on board before. But this time I overlooked it.
I quickly run to check in my backpack but the counter was closed and then I ran to the locker room to keep the things but I forgot I never bring money with me, all is with hubby. Then next to the locker room is a KFC Restaurant, I went to beg the staff to keep my precious Swiss knife and told him I will collect it back later. After a few minutes of explaining and begging finally the staff agree to take care the Swiss knife for me.
At that time is already 6.50am! Air Asia announces my name so many times and gives me another 3 minutes to board!
I ran through all the checking counter and told them I need to board the plane immediately and they let me go (breathless moment). Upon arrival at the boarding gate hubby and the rest gave me a relief looked. Gosh…I felt so sorry for them. Hubby and Naomi might miss the flight because of my negligent. We get to board the plane and because of me and one malay guy, the flight was delayed. Ooops.
2. Upon arrival at Bao An Shenzhen Airport, Noah (Jestine’s son) and Ken (one of our group member) got quarantine due to high temperature and suspect for H1N1. Then went through blood test, Noah was release after the test but Ken was sent to the local hospital for further medical check up.
3. We were cheated by an illegal taxi (which we only realise later) and was charged Yuan$320 from airport to the hotel. I thought of not paying that kind of amount because I know the rate should be around Yuan$150 but then thinking Naomi and hubby’s safety, I just pay.
Sigh…the legal taxi at the airport will only pick up travellers from the taxi booth but at that time we don’t know.
Although this trip is with a lot of bumps but we really thank God for our overall safety. Ken was released from the hospital later at night (same day) and he is fine. No H1N1!
After the illegal taxi experience, we now know how to differentiate legal and illegal taxi in Shenzhen.
