Soy can danger our health?
Thursday, January 31st, 2008I was doing some research about soy because we are thinking to let Angel drink soy milk instead of cow milk. I’m looking for soy goodness and whether it is nutritious enough for Angel.
Then to my surprise, I found more bad news than good news!
Soy can danger our health…
- High levels of phytic acid in soy can reduce calcium, magnesium, copper, iron and zinc. High phytate diets can caused growth in children.
- Trypsin inhibitors in soy interfere with protein digestion cause pancreatic disorders.
- Soy phytoestrogens disrupt endocrine function and have potential to cause infertility and to promote breast cancer in adult women.
- Soy phytoestrogens are potent antithyroid agents that may cause thyroid cancer. In infants, consumption of soy formula has been linked to autoimmune thyroid disease.
- Vitamin B12 in soy are not absorbed and actually increase the body requirement for B12.
- Soy foods increase the body’s requirement for Vitamin D.
- Fragile protein are denatured during high temperature processing to make soy protein isolate and textured vegetable protein.
- Soy foods contains high levels of aluminum which is toxic to the nervous system and the kidneys.
A lot of people says that soy is a magic food but in fact it is not. All the informations that I found clearly stated that soy is not good for our health.
I believe whatever we consume, it need to be a balance diet.
So will I still drink soy milk? NO!
Will I give Angel soy milk? NO! I’ll stick to breastmilk.
