Chinese New Year, Everything is New Too?
Chinese New Year is coming, some Chinese people believe that it is New Year therefore they need to change everything new like the furniture, clothes, lighting fixture and even car. Well, only those that are rich have this kind of “ritual” unless you have a money machine at home (if you have, please give me some cause I wanted to buy a new home). Bah!
Do you believe this kind of stuff that changing old things to new will bring good luck?
I don’t.
But a lot of marketing people are using this opportunity to grab customer’s attention. Things like special New Year life insurance quotes, holiday packages, decorative items that are all red in colour and plenty more. Hmmm…boring!
Personally, I dislike red but I know my parents would love to see me wearing red colour during Chinese New Year. So instead of me wearing it, I bought a red colour skirt for Naomi. Muahahahaha!
Oh, by the way, I don’t buy new clothing only during Chinese New Year season but I shop at anytime.
How about you, are you in the craze of trying to get everything new and red colour for Chinese New Year?

In the past, people didn’t shop through the year because they were very poor. That’s why they shop just before CNY. Just buy cloth, dye red and sew into something brand new, not discoloured, and bright.
It’s a time of celebration lah. If you go for wedding, or friend’s birthday party, you will sure dress up a bit cos it’s a time of celebration mah.
